We put the GA Backpack in front of live rounds in controlled testing. Our Sandwich Design System stopped the rounds and stayed relatively flat.

Results from controlled testing of the GA Backpack. Performance comparable to NIJ IIIA, independently tested, not NIJ-certified. The GA Backpack is a backpack with an integrated protective system, it is not body armour. It cannot be NIJ-certified. It is independently tested but is not a guarantee against harm. Performance may vary depending on threat, distance and ammunition. Not recommended against rounds designed to penetrate armour.
The Sandwich Design

Discreet protection you won't see, until it matters.

Drag to look beneath the shell. Our original Sandwich Design stacks PE, UHMWPE, EVA and PE into one integrated protection system, engineered into the structure of the bag so the back of the bag stays relatively flat, no deformations even under extreme tests.

The Sandwich Design, outer shell to your back

1

Water-resistant faux-leather shell

A soft-touch, wipe-clean exterior that shrugs off rain and snow, designed for Canadian weather.

2

Front hard-PE plate

A rigid polyethylene face that meets the impact first and spreads it across a wider area.

3

UHMWPE soft panel

Over 30 layers of ultra-high-strength polyethylene fibre, woven tightly together. The same material trusted in modern protective gear, yet flexible and remarkably light for discreet, all-day comfort.

4

EVA impact-absorbing core

A cushioning layer that soaks up and disperses energy, then springs back to shape.

5

Rear hard-PE plate

The back of the sandwich holds the whole system rigid and integrates it into the bag structure, so the panel never shifts and always sits at the optimal angle. It resists deformation, not just penetration.

6

Padded comfort back

Breathable, ergonomic padding so the whole system disappears against the back all day long.

Stays flat, no deformation

Most inserts stop the round, but because the bag structure around them was never designed for it, the back can still protrude and drive blunt force into the body. Our system is designed to hold its shape and reduce blunt force trauma, addressing the energy transferred to the wearer, not just stopping the projectile.

The real risk isn't only the round

Built in system, not inserted

Dropping a ballistic insert into a bag has many limitations. The insert might not match the bag, it could sag, rotate or tilt. Sitting too low, too far back, or off angle could leave the coverage inconsistent. It also heavily depends on user consistency; getting the insert in the right way each time. Protection should not rest on a rushed morning. Our system removes every one of those failure points.

“The quality feels premium: the water-resistant finish, the zippers, the padded straps. It's protection I hope we never need, but reassurance I'm glad we have.”

Good to know

What people ask us before buying.

A backpack already sits over the upper back and chest, exactly where protection counts. Worn on both shoulders, slung to one side, or held in front on a busy platform, the protection naturally sits between you and the unexpected.

  • Always facing outward. The protective panel is positioned to cover the torso whichever way the bag is worn.
  • Ready in a second. Nothing to assemble or deploy, the protection is simply always there, from the walk to school onward.
  • Peace of mind, quietly. No fear, no spectacle, just a little more reassurance built into the bag.

Yes, and that is the whole point. The GA Backpack was built around discreet, everyday styling. The multi-layer protection is built into the structure of the bag, so there is nothing to insert and nothing that signals what is inside. The non-tactical style means nobody has to know it is anything other than a well-made backpack.

We call it the Sandwich Design, a slim core stack of a hard-PE plate, a UHMWPE soft panel, an EVA impact-absorbing layer and a second hard-PE plate. Because it is built into the structure of the bag rather than dropped in as a loose insert, the layers stay aligned and the back panel stays flat. That matters for resisting deformation, not only penetration, and it is designed to reduce the blunt force passed through to the wearer. There is nothing to position, nothing to remember, and nothing to get wrong.

Yes. Our bags have been independently tested against common concealed-carry threats, and each iteration has been refined from our learnings. The bag is designed for protection comparable to NIJ Level IIIA. It is equipment meant to reduce risk, not a guarantee against harm. Performance varies with weapon, ammunition, distance and angle, and the bag is not designed for rifle or armour-piercing threats.

Two honest reasons. First, we designed the bag around the threats people are most likely to face, and 9mm is by far the most common crime-gun caliber, close to half of all firearms traced in the ATF's national assessment, which is exactly what the Sandwich Design is built to address. Second, stopping rifle rounds designed to penetrate armour like 5.56 or 7.62 means stepping up to Level IV protection, which relies on ceramic plates. However, ceramic plates can be both heavy and rigid, so building them into the structure of a bag would make it stiff, heavy, bulky and obvious, exactly the opposite of the discreet everyday bag we set out to build. The GA Backpack is designed for everyday reassurance, not for the battlefield.

1.8 kg empty, which is lighter than most people expect. The protective materials were chosen for their strength-to-weight ratio rather than bulk, so a student can carry it through a full day without noticing the difference.

Wipe the water-resistant shell clean with a damp cloth, then let it air dry. Please do not machine wash, submerge, bleach or iron the bag, and keep it away from open flame and high temperatures. The shell is built for rain, but soaking and heat can both affect the protection system inside.

Students, commuters, and anyone who wants a well-made everyday backpack with a little extra reassurance. Our mission is simple: accessible protection for everyone.
